This page is for people who no longer have the app installed, or cannot open it. If the app is still on your device, doing it there is faster.
Settings → Account → Delete account and server data. A confirmation dialog explains the consequences. Confirm, then sign in once more to prove it is you; server-side data is then deleted immediately. Update the app to the latest version first: older versions do not know about data types added after them.
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Delete account", including:
The request must come from that same email address (except in the case below) — that is how we verify it, and it is why we do not ask you for any further documentation.
Signed in with Apple and chose "Hide My Email"? Your account address then looks like …@privaterelay.appleid.com and cannot be used to send new email. Write from your real email address and include your …@privaterelay.appleid.com address in the message. You can find it under Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account (on iPhone: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple; or at account.apple.com), in the Lunaya (or Lịch Việt) entry. We send a confirmation email with a unique code to that relay address — Apple forwards it to your real inbox — and delete the account once we receive a reply containing that code.
| Deleted | Kept |
|---|---|
| Your Lunaya account | Data on your own phone — events, tasks, plan templates, notes, prayers, categories, family trees, acquaintances, settings, themes |
| Email address, name, profile picture link | Technical backups held by our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) — removed within 180 days at most |
| All events backed up on the server, with their items to prepare (how many days before, assignee, linked prayer) and the people you named | Sign-in IP address logs kept by Firebase — a few weeks |
| All tasks and custom plan templates backed up on the server | |
| All day notes backed up on the server | A marker that the account was deleted — only a random account ID and the time deletion was requested, so other devices cannot write data back to the server — kept indefinitely |
| All custom event categories backed up on the server | |
| All prayers you typed in, backed up on the server | |
| All family trees backed up on the server — people, relationships, tree names, the person marked as you, each person's more details and funeral items | |
| Your date of birth, time of birth and gender backed up on the server | |
| All acquaintances backed up on the server | |
| The wrapped end-to-end encryption key on the server (if end-to-end encryption was on); deleting in the app also removes the key from the device, including any copy in iCloud Keychain |
Data on your device is not touched. Deleting the account only ends backup and sync; to remove local data, uninstall the app or delete individual events, tasks, plan templates, notes, prayers, categories, family-tree members and acquaintances inside it.
Apart from that marker, we retain no copies after deletion. Our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) takes up to 180 days to remove deleted data from its technical backups, and keeps sign-in IP address logs for a few weeks.
Within 30 days of receiving the request. We reply to confirm once deletion is complete.
